Regione Autonoma Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Trieste, Italy
Brief biography of partner
Italian administrative Region with a special statute established by constitutional law in 1963, Friuli Venezia Giulia has an area of 7,932 square kilometres, a population of around 1.2 million inhabitants and articulates its territorial and administrative identity in 215 municipalities and 4 regional decentralisation bodies. A land rich in history and traditions, the region boasts a geographically barycentric role between the Mediterranean and continental Europe. It is on this precious natural characteristic that the community has been able to invest over the years to establish itself as a bridge in commercial and cultural traffic, both through the development of integrated logistics – capable of responding to the challenges of the global market – and through its vocation for innovation, which finds lively expression in a university and research system that forges knowledge and skills for businesses.
Role in the project
Friuli Venezia Giulia Region provides relevant data needed for the tests and simulations, testing the environment as per the defined use cases and tests, and participating as end users in the testing and validation of the Italian and Cross-Border Pilots managed by INSIEL.
