Cetaqua-Water Technology Centre
Málaga, Spain
Brief biography of partner
Cetaqua is a network of water technology RDI centres that carries out the innovation roadmap for adaptation and resilience to climate change. Based on a unique public-private collaboration model, Cetaqua offers RDI solutions that ensure the entire water cycle is sustainable and efficient at all stages.
Cetaqua’s methodology covers the entire innovation process: from the identification of opportunities and needs in the environment to the generation of scientific knowledge that materialises into tangible, robust, applicable and scalable solutions.
Cetaqua does this through an ecosystem of 4 independent centres and a branch office, all working closely together, collaborating with the public and private sectors. Cetaqua believes this allows them to create spaces of excellence and trust that function as catalysts for innovation, relying on the key players in territorial ecosystems.
Cetaqua Andalucía was created in 2014 by Hidralia, the University of Malaga (UMA) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). In their two lines of research, they seek new RDI solutions in the field of water resource management, with a special emphasis on groundwater, as well as in the field of digital technology, with a focus on the integral water cycle.
Working with this approach allows them to develop effective and sustainable long-term solutions that improve efficiency in the use of water, promoting its reuse and guaranteeing the integrated management of the resource, thus being able to face the current and future water challenges that affect us globally.
Role in the project
Cetaqua will contribute to ECHO’s tools and services for community resilience, developing drought forecasting and flood nowcasting.
Cetaqua will also contribute to the validation, demonstration and capacity building as part of the Spanish Pilot, as well as participate in workshops.
