ECHO at Six Months
2nd March 2026
At six months into the project, ECHO’s project coordinator, Netcompany, reflects on the progress so far and looks ahead at the plans for a more resilient Europe.
From planning to implementation
The ECHO project continues to build strong momentum as we move further into 2026. Across Europe, partners are working closely to transform early insights into structured solutions that support multi-hazard resilience and cross-sector collaboration.
With pilot workshops completed, technical implementation progressing, and stakeholder engagement expanding, ECHO is entering an exciting new phase.
From local insights to European strategy
Over the past months, local pilot workshops in Slovenia, Italy, and Spain brought together public authorities, essential service providers, and technical experts. These sessions provided valuable perspectives on regional resilience challenges and opportunities for improvement.
The insights gathered are now being consolidated and are directly feeding into the development of the European Urban Resilience Strategy. By combining local experience with a broader European vision, ECHO is helping shape a more coordinated and future-oriented approach to resilience.
Preparations are also underway for a European-level workshop in Málaga, which will further strengthen collaboration across regions and sectors.
Advancing architecture and technical implementation
Behind the scenes, technical teams are making steady progress on architecture definition and component implementation, building on the requirements elicited through the workshops and ongoing partner coordination. The focus is on ensuring that the different tools and services developed within ECHO are designed coherently, respond effectively to the real-world needs identified during the pilot planning and workshop phase, and can be progressively aligned as development advances.
Testing environments are being prepared to support validation activities, marking an important step toward operational prototyping. This transition from design to structured integration reflects the project’s growing maturity.
Building the Knowledge Hub
ECHO’s Knowledge Hub and data governance framework are also advancing. Work is underway to define clear principles for how data and knowledge are managed, shared, and reused within the project ecosystem. The goal is to create a robust and scalable structure that supports collaboration while maintaining high standards of data governance and interoperability.
Strengthening the Resilience Ecosystem
Collaboration remains at the heart of ECHO. The project continues to expand its Resilience Ecosystem by engaging stakeholders from different sectors and regions. This inclusive approach ensures that solutions are grounded in real needs and benefit from diverse expertise. Clustering activities with related European initiatives are ongoing, helping to amplify impact and foster synergies across projects.
Communication and engagement
ECHO’s online presence continues to grow. Regular updates on the website and social media channels help to share progress, insights, and upcoming milestones with a broader audience. The upcoming General Assembly in Málaga will also include engagement activities with external stakeholders, reinforcing the project’s commitment to openness and collaboration.
Looking ahead
ECHO is steadily moving from foundational planning toward deeper implementation and validation. With strong coordination across partners and growing engagement beyond the consortium, the project is well positioned to deliver practical, scalable solutions for urban resilience across Europe.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue building a stronger, more connected resilience ecosystem.
