Brief biography of partner
The “Consorzio per l’Acquedotto del Friuli Centrale” was established in 1931 by 14 Municipalities of the Middle Friuli, responding to the need to establish a modern water supply service for the development of the area, where, at the time, the rural economy played a central role.
Nowadays, CAFC manages the integrated water service for 122 municipalities in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, including the water networks (adduction and distribution networks), sewerage, and wastewater treatment process.
The tater supply network currently extends over 5,000 km, covering an area of over 4,600 km2, distributing over 140,000 m3 of drinking water daily, and comprising over 700 storage tanks (in addition to distribution and interruption tanks) and 124 pumping stations. The population currently served is approximately 410,000 people, as well as the 160,000 summer visitors to the seaside area of Lignano Sabbiadoro. The area served is altimetrically diversified, extending from the mountains to the sea.
Wastewater is collected in the sewer network, which extends approximately 3,800 km, and purified in 514 treatment plants.
