Diputación Provincial de Málaga

Diputación de Málaga (Malaga Provincial Council) is the institution entrusted by the 1978 Constitution with the government and administration of the municipalities in the province. As a local administrative and management entity, it has played, since its origin in the 19th century, like other public institutions, a prominent role in shaping the liberal state, as well as an important link on the path toward what we understand today as the democratic state, civil service, and territorial distribution. Its importance as an intermediary local institution began with the Spanish Constitution of 1978, which entrusted the government of the province to the provincial councils. Various legal provisions have regulated the institutional relations between the provincial councils and the Autonomous Community of Andalusia and have specified their scope of action and powers, with respect to the provincial municipalities, to guarantee the provision of advisory and cooperation services to all citizens within their territory and to promote the general interests of the province.
