Brief biography of partner

GZS is the umbrella organization of voluntary fire brigades and one of the key organizations within the national protection and rescue system, bringing together more than 175,000 members, including almost 40,000 trained and operational firefighters. GZS ensures 24/7 operational readiness for fires, natural disasters, accidents and other emergencies, while providing continuous training, professional development and equipment modernization. Through various commissions (hazmat, extrication, training) consisting of experts, we ensure the transfer of experience and good practices within the country and abroad. GZS is also an active member of CTIF – International Association of Fire and Rescue Services, hosting its main office and supporting global knowledge exchange in disaster management.

Role in the project

GZS collaborates in the Slovenian pilot by planning, preparing and executing activities, as well as participates in the ITA–SLO cross-border pilot. Through its involvement in the project’s ecosystem, workshops and strategic activities, GZS supports the creation of the Resilience Ecosystem, contributes to the AS-IS and TO-BE analyses, and takes part in the preparation of a joint Resilience Strategy.

Furthermore, GZS ensures that the content and outcomes of the project are useful and applicable to Slovenian fire organizations at all levels – from national to local – while promoting the integration of project results into existing training, planning and decision-making processes within the fire service network.
