Brief biography of partner
The Municipality of Gemona del Friuli is a local public authority located in the Province of Udine, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The Municipality operates for the benefit of citizens and the community, promoting sustainable development, social inclusion, cultural enhancement, and civil protection.
Gemona del Friuli is internationally recognised as a symbol of resilience and community recovery. Known as the “Friuli Model”, it represents an outstanding example of how a community can successfully respond to and rebuild after a major disaster. Following the 1976 earthquake, which tragically caused around 400 deaths, Gemona demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for organisation, solidarity and reconstruction, becoming a national and international reference point for post-disaster recovery and resilience.
Role in the project
The Municipality of Gemona del Friuli contributes to Validation, Demonstration, and Capacity Building for the ECHO Project. Gemona del Friuli will provide relevant data for the tests and simulations, host testing environments as defined in the project use cases, and participating as an end user in the testing and validation of both the Italian and Cross-Border Pilots.
